A dozen mad men

Longing to be heard

talk of how things are
of how things went
where we will be tomorrow
where our paths will lead

perhaps this is,
from the beginning,
where we should be…

and this is,
exactly,
how we should feel…

and this is,
from the start,
where we should be heading…

a life apart

the weary heart
is seeking refuge
from raindrops
as it remembers a rose

its precious rose
with crimson petals
a stem, slender and sturdy
and its thorns aplenty

with each raindrop
the heart recalls
every laugh, every smile
and the way the rose danced
as the heart continued
pounding, playing the music
of life
trying to cut the vines
entangled with the rose
wishing for the sun
the warmth of a new life
yet the rain continues to pour

i can remember my heart’s sound
as we walked on early morning
with glee it continued to pound
not a care of where we were going

the trees around were swaying
as the morning breeze blew
i clearly recall you happily saying
“this is too good to be true”

there was a grin on my face
there was nothing i could say
perhaps i knew that in a matter of days
things would cease to stay that way

I will always remember
that warm Sunday morning
when i woke up from a dream,
of you and me walking
beside a river, upstream
happy, laughing, talking

bent on healing
i move forward
days with a heavy head
some, heavy heart
i stamp my feet
just to feel it tremble
just to feel…
wandering

touched by the hand God
i see light
i see hope
that i will be absolved,
that i can forgive,
that my heart will heal,
I will be free,
this bitterness will end
new life will begin
